A welcome to Mike Dilger

IMG_0372It was the North West Bird Watching Festival last weekend. We have hosted this event for 15 years and every year we enjoy meeting new guest speakers. This year we were joined by Mike Dilger and he had some lovely comments to say abou the centre.

"This year I have come along to the North West Bird Watching Festival at Martin Mere – it is a brilliant time to visit. I had a walk around with Tom Clare the reserve manager and there are close to 1000 Whooper swans and skeins of pink-footed geese have been flying overhead, it is absolutely brilliant. I do a lot of shows throughout the year and it is great to be able to combine a show with birding. I have had a chance to do a swan feed whilst I have been here; I take out a barrow full of wheat and you get so close to all of these birds, not just swans but pintail and pochard. It is actually the second time I have done a feed at Martin Mere and I am in the small minority of people that have been lucky enough to do it. I do love it here at Martin Mere, you always get a friendly welcome from staff and I love coming back."

"Wetlands centre are fantastic for exercise, getting air into your lungs, relaxing the mind and generally good for mind, body and soul. As soon as I visit a centre like Martin Mere, within minutes I have forgotten all about the daily worries and I relax with nature. It is well worth becoming a member to improve health and wellbeing."
