Common Gulls and other birds
A full autumn spectacle continues at Martin Mere as big numbers of Pink-footed Geese (10,000+) and increasing numbers of Whooper Swan (300+) use the reserve. No recent counts but all the other wildfowl numbers are increasing with sixteen different species

Rare visitor!
We again have a (very handsome) male Ferruginous duck on site today. The bird has been here since Friday, first spotted in the filter reed beds. This species has not been seen wild on site for over thirty years!
