Mike Dilger, BBC The One Show naturalist and author, speaks to us as he visits WWT London Wetland Centre to open our new Headley Discovery Hide - a welcoming hide designed with beginner birdwatchers in mind.

The new hide includes panoramic windows for better viewing across the Centre’s main lake, telescopes and binoculars and bird ID guides.

A screen on the wall streams live footage from two CCTV cameras, one trained on an area of the main lake and the other providing close-up images of birds visiting the new bird feeding station beside the hide. A perfect place to peruse passerine plumage!

The Headley Discovery Hide is sited on the banks of the main lake, with excellent views of reedbeds and the Centre’s tern rafts. Have a peek at the new hide on Vine

The hide was funded by the Headley Trust.

Mike talks about the new hide, and his recently completed Big 9 Challenge - visiting all nine WWT Centres over nine days.
