Flock Together -what's it all about?
About this project
Flock Together is a community project that aims to represent the relationship of people and wildlife with this unique and inspiring wetland landscape.
Eight workshops will be delivered to selected groups and open sessions in the local community, raising awareness of how important the Ouse washes is to the migratory whooper and Bewickâs swans and getting people involved with their creative side to represent certain aspects of this relationship. Each workshop will vary and will include themes such as movement, structure and sounds of wetland wildlife.
After all the workshops have been delivered, the creative outputs from each group will be collated by artist Karen Harvey, to create a final, standalone and unique sculpture which will be made out of corten steel, kindly sponsored by Ledbury Welding (http://www.lweltd.co.uk/ ).
Participants will be able to follow the projects progression through this blog and find out about the other groups involved. Everyone involved with the project will be invited to the inauguration of the final sculpture.
We hope this project will inspire people to think about what these winter migratory swans mean to them and capture the emotions and interactions of the surrounding communities with this distinctive wetland landscape and its wildlife.
This project is for our local community, so if you are interested in finding out more about getting involved, please get in touch and help make this a piece of true community art!
