Latest Sightings

It has been a good few days in terms of sightings for the reed loving birds we get at Martin Mere. Bittern again has been sighted from Ron Barker with multiple reports. Water rail can also be regularly heard calling within the reedbed and are best heard from the reedbed walk.

There has also been multiple sightings of brambling. A popular place for the birds at present is the millet feeders and hedgerow at the back of Ron Barker along the old vehicle track. There have also been reports of brambling in the woodland close to Janet Kear.

Elsewhere great white egret and peregrine have been seen from Ron Barker hide and United Utilities and a good number of snipe can be seen hiding amongst the reeds from the viewing screen along Catty Bank
