She is just one of a group of young people who help out with family activities at weekends. Abi has proved to be ...a brilliant volunteer, showing her enthusiasm and commitment week after week. She has also been nominated for a national volunteering award with the Charity Staff Foundation. Abi is currently studying for her A levels at Runshaw College before going on to university to study Maths.

An interview with Abi

Tell me a bit about yourself:  I’m currently in my second year of college studying Further Maths, Chemistry and German A-Levels after completing my Maths A-Level last summer. I’m hoping to study Maths at University and then continue onto a Maths based career. I really enjoy music and play both the piano and saxophone in my spare time.

When did you join WWT?  June 2013

Why did you want to become a volunteer?  I wanted to do something fun and rewarding during my long summer after my GCSEs whilst also gaining valuable experience and skills. Volunteering seemed the best idea and having visited Martin Mere since I was a child and really enjoying days out there, I thought it would be the perfect place to volunteer as everyone was always so friendly and it is a lovely environment to work in.

What are your life’s ambitions?  I would like the graduate from University with a degree in Maths and obtain a really good job in a math based career. I would also love to go travelling around the world and visit as many different countries and landmarks as I can.

What three things would you take to a desert island?

Mobile phone

Nandos

Ipod

What is your ideal holiday?  An around the world trip
