Red Necked Phalarope
Zeiss Hide
A fine female red necked phalarope has appeared in front of the Zeiss Hide this morning. A lone avocet and 3 redshank were also here. Cettis calling close to the hide and reed warblers showing well here.
Rushy
Very busy just now, Cranes still incubating, three pairs of avocets one with two eggs. The oystercatchers have 4 chicks and the black headed gulls are hatching. Around 30 black tailed godwit are also feeding here.
Holden Area
The usual 3 cranes were flying over and a fourth was on the Dumbles. a little egret was showing really well in front of the Robbie Garnett Hide. a kestrel was near the tower and a peregrine out on the estuary. two oystercatchers were on the scrape and there were 36 ringed plover and 5 dunlin distantly on the estuary. Two wigeon and a pair of great crested grebes with one young were on the Long Ground pool viewable from the Holden or canoe Trail.
South Lake
The 41 black tailed godwit were here but move around between her and the Rushy. The first two broods (3 and 4) of shelduck have appeared here
