Today's Sightings
No sign of yesterdays Glossy Ibises yet but keep looking.
Rushy
Four pairs of Avocet here and lots of interaction with several broods of Shelduck.
Robbie Garnett Hide
More Shelduck broods a couple of Teal and a lone Wigeon. Good views of a Green Sandpiper and Reed Warblers up close. A Cuckoo was calling behind the hide.
Holden Tower
Loads of activity on the scrape this morning two of the Avocet families had returned with there fledged you, great to see a realy good survival with one family of 4 and another of three. Oystercatcher still incubating on one of the islands and a pair of Redshank as well. A gem of a Little Grebe was showing well on the Knott Pool to the left of the Tower and there were two newly hatched broods of Tufted Duck here as well the first broods of the year for me. Good to see a fully fledged Lapwing here as well.

Yet more Avocet activity here, 9 birds in total including another incubating pair. Good to see Shovelers dropping into long grass away from the waters edge lets hope a few broods appear soon. There were at least 16 Teal suggesting something of a return passage movement already and 52 Lapwing starting to gather in there post breeding flock.
South lake
Loads of Black Headed Gull activity, some 25 young were ringed here yesterday which is probably less than half the total number reared. Great crested Grebe looking great and one pretty much full grown youngster with them. A brief flash of a Kingfisher and a pair of Common Terns incubating on one of the islands. There were 18 Black Tailed Godwit, 7 Redshank among them and at least two Oystercatcher families.
Estuary (mid point)
A good high tide this morning but typically for June not a lot of activity. there were two Dunlin and two Ringed Plover, about 8 Curlew and lots of feeding Shelduck with one brood of youngster among them. The dark breasted Peregrine was over the estuary at one point.
