Today's sightings- First Little-ringed Plover of the year

Holden Tower

Up to 88 Golden Plover and the wintering Grey Plover roosting on the Dumbles. Dunlin had dropped to 21 but the first Little-ringed Plover of the year was with this flock. Eighteen territorial Lapwing are spread out across the higher saltmarsh zone. A Peregrine was on the logs and a few Greylag and Canada Geese scattered about on the best grazing. 24 Avocet were on the scrape and a flock of c70 Wigeon on the pool adjacent.

Tack Piece

Five Greenland White-fronted Geese, 300 Wigeon and small numbers of other duck species were present. The Little-ringed Plover flew to the flood in the centre of the field.

South Lake

A second summer Mediterranean Gull was among the Black-headed Gull colony (approx 40 pairs). One Avocet joined 147 Black-tailed Godwit on the wader scrape and although in small numbers a wide variety of species of wildfowl were present as usual.

Kingfisher Hide

A Kingfisher was at the nest holes again, 18 Lapwing are on territory on the Bottom New Piece as well as one Curlew and 2 Redshank. Four Snipe were viewable in the cut rush.

Zeiss Hide

At least 6 Snipe in the cut rush, 8 territorial Lapwing, 200 Wigeon, 2 Avocet and 30 Teal.
