Today's sightings- another hint of migration

Holden Tower

Big tides and a very strong N wind battered the Dumbles shoreline. Very heavy overnight rain has flooded the fields to full extent. Higher tides forecasted until the weekend.

Severn tide, North wind wave damage

2 Red Knot (non-breeding plumaged) among the 300 Dunlin that fed around the scrape. A small party of 12 Golden Plover were also present as well as 40 Barnacle and 30 Canadad Geese. 8 Great Black-backed Gull roosted.

109 European and 5 Greenland White-fronted Geese remain as well as 100 Wigeon.

South Lake

Bar-tailed and 130 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Oystercatcher, 13 Avocet on the wader scrape. A female Greater Scaup was among 40 Pochard and 2 Great Crested Grebe.

Zeiss Hide and South Finger

Apologies but closed during the worst of the gale period today for tree safety reasons.

2 Avocet, 150 Wigeon and 50 Dunlin were on the floods.
