Today's sightings-winter departures continue

Another frozen but dry and sunny start to the day. A roundup from a quick hide round this morning follows...

Holden Tower

Peregrine, 3 GCP Cranes, 30 Lapwing and the White-fronted Goose flock on the Dumbles, latter at N end and hidden behind seawall at 0830hrs. On the scrape and pool adjacent were 350 Wigeon (with 100 on estuary), 1 Little Stint and 9 Avocet in the scrape. A Short-eared owl was mobbing one of the four Buzzards to the North of the hide, look at the haystacks in the distance. Male Stonechat and Reed Bunting were on the Middle Point fence. Four Oystercatcher.

100 Wigeon and small numbers of Teal, Pintail, Gadwall, Shoveler, Shelduck and 2 Cranes GCP.

Top and Bottom New Piece (from Zeiss or Kingfisher hides)

1 Ruff, 491 Dunlin, 40 Golden Plover, 80 Lapwing and 80 Teal.

South Lake

15 Black-tailed Godwit and 1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 8 Cormorant and the deep lake busy with duck.

Rushy Pen

18 Bewick's Swans (+4 in grounds), 1 Greater Scaup, 100 Pochard, 121 Pintail, 120 Shelduck, 200 Tufted Duck, 200 Mallard and 2 GCP Cranes.
