Discover Birds weekend is Oct 15-16

The autumn edition of the popular Discover Birds weekends runs this Sat 15 –Sun 16 October at Arundel Wetland Centre. Attend free walks and talks throughout both days about our feathered friends on this gorgeous nature reserve at the edge of the South Downs National Park.

Autumn is a beautiful time to watch wildfowl as the jewel tones in their winter plumage are highlighted in autumn sunshine.  Themes of walks this weekend include Autumn Birds, Attracting Birds to an Autumn Garden and Homes for Wildlife. WWT wardens will lead visitors on a tour of rare and endangered species in the captive collection at WWT Arundel Wetland Centre.

Talks on Saturday include Arundel centre Manager Dave Fairlamb’s speaking on How to Begin Bird Watching and Birds of South Africa.  Ina Turner talks on the Birds on an African Safari on Sunday.

Families will enjoy the activities for children include using quill pens made from feathers, making milk carton birds or a birdie bauble craft and pond dipping for creature that ducks like to dine on.  The Boat Safari is running both days and is included in our admission price.

All Discover Birds Day activities are included in the regular admission price to  Arundel Wetland Centre. Admission price to WWT Arundel: Adults £11.95, Concession £9.50, Children £6. Under 4 admitted free. WWT members: free
