- Cook up a muddy masterpiece in our mud kitchen (just don’t taste it!).
- Sculpt your own wetland creature using clay and natural materials.
- Splash through natural puddles of every size - because clean clothes are overrated!
- Mix up a seed bomb with natural ingredients to take home and plant.
- Take aim in our mudslinging contest - scoop, sling, and score!
Embrace the mess, unleash your creativity, and celebrate the wonder of wetlands at Mudfest!
FAQs
What is Mudfest?
Mudfest is a week-long celebration of all things muddy, wild, and wonderful. Held during February half term, it’s packed with hands-on activities that let kids (and grown-ups!) explore, create, and play in nature’s messiest playground.
What should we wear?
Waterproofs, wellies, and clothes you don’t mind getting muddy. Trust us—clean clothes are overrated!
What’s a seed bomb?
A seed bomb is a mix of soil, clay, and seeds that you can take home and plant to help wildflowers grow and support local wildlife.
Will there be cleanup facilities?
A boot washing station will be available at the visitor centre. There are sinks for handwashing in the toilets in the visitor centre and at the Outlook In building. We recommend bringing towels and spare clothes for the journey home.
Ready to get muddy?
All activities are included in admission ticket or free for WWT members. You can just turn up on the day or if you are not a WWT member and would like to pre-book.
