Osprey still onsite!
The osprey has been spotted on site still for the past week.
Lucky visitors have been able to see the osprey catching fish, soaring overhead or watch it perched up on the Offham Hangar. Read more about the osprey and its specialized way of fishing on our recent blog post here - Ospery blog. Thanks Steve Woodard for this week's osprey photo.
A goldcrest has been spotted twice, one was in the hedges on the approach to the Sand martin hide while the other sightings was in the Woodland Loop. A flock of red poll was heard but not seen in the Woodland Loop as well a as nuthatch making regular appearances
A green woodpecker has been sighted along the Long Path ditch and in the old Trumpeter Pen at the entrance to the Scrape hide. Long for them on the ground probing for ants.
On Saturday we had 14 shoveler show up in the count at the Scrape hide. On Sunday Reserve Manager Suzi Lanaway watched 40+ cattle egrets from the Scrape Hide as they came into roost on the tree in the middle of the scrape.
A Kingfisher has been showing on Arun Riverlife lagoon, at Scrape Hide, and in the Reedbed.

Lapwing hide: 1 grey heron, 2 mallards, 1 gadwall, 1 moorhen, 1 robin.

Scrape hide: 1 kingfisher, 1 pochard
