Otterly amazing

The past few days have been busy on the site, with an abundance of wildlife. The star of the show is undoubtedly the otter, but we've also had sightings of Hen harrier, Oystercatcher, Curlew and fantastic numbers of Barnacle geese and Pink footed geese.

The past few days have been busy on the site, with an abundance of wildlife. The star of the show is undoubtedly the otter, it's been seen numerous times over the past week. Particularly on the Whooper pond from The Peter Scot Observatory, but also from The Teal Pond hide. These weren't glimpses either, on multiple occasions the Otter was watched for 5-10 minutes playing and fishing.

We've also had a male and female Hen harrier spotted from the Saltcot hide and also over the flood grounds towards the Avenue tower. Large numbers of Oystercatcher, Curlew, Lapwing and Starlings have been present over the site. And a huge mixed flock of Barnacle geese and Pink footed geese were seen on Sunday to the left of the Avenue tower. These birds numbered in the thousands which was quite the spectacle. Pintail, Gadwall, Wigeon, Teal, Shoveler and Shelduck have also been present on the site around the Teal pond, Cambell hide and Folly pond in particular.

Unable to visit us in person or missing your daily fix of swans, waders, and badgers’ antics, then click on the link below to check out our webcam which is set on the Whooper pond during the day, and then set to view the badger feeding area from 5pm onwards.
