Patsy Morrogh Exhibition
Country Colours
An Exhibition by Patsy MacCarthy Morrogh
14 March to 12 April 2026
Graffan Gallery, Castle Espie.
WWT Castle Espie is delighted to present Country Colours, an exhibition by acclaimed Irish artist Patsy MacCarthy Morrogh.
Patsy has been painting from a very early age, inspired by her mother, the artist Kate Reade. After studying at Trinity College Dublin and working in banking in London, she moved abroad following her marriage and began painting full time.
The inspiration for Country Colours is drawn from the wildlife and landscapes of Ireland, celebrating the remarkable variety of colour found on land and sea, often with four seasons in one day. Birds have always held a special place in Patsy’s work and were the subject of her very first exhibition, making Castle Espie a particularly meaningful venue for this exhibition.
Patsy’s first solo exhibition took place at the Wexford Opera Festival in 1980, where she was asked to specialise in bird paintings. The exhibition was a great success, with 60 of the 66 paintings sold. Since then, she has exhibited widely, including solo exhibitions in Hong Kong, Gibraltar and Germany, as well as numerous joint and group exhibitions across Northern Ireland.
Her achievements include being awarded a diploma by the Ulster Society of Women Artists in 2007 and reaching the semi finals of Channel 4’s Watercolour Challenge in 1999. In recent years, Patsy has also focused on writing and illustrating children’s books, alongside completing commissioned works of animals and landscapes.
Being invited to exhibit at Castle Espie inspired Patsy to return to her first love, birds and the vibrant colours of the Irish countryside, resulting in this joyful and evocative collection.
