Highlights - Green Sandpiper, Water Pipit, Pintail, Great White Egrets and Spoonbills.

British Steel Hide

There have frequently been two Great White Egrets on the Saline Lagoons along with 7 Spoonbills. Waders this week include Knot, Spotted Redshank, Curlew and Green Sandpipers. Large numbers of Shelduck and Wigeon can be seen from the British Steel Hide and its nice to see up to 50 cormorants line up on the land between the saline lagoons. Water Pipits, White Wagtail and Chaffinch have been spotted on the Dafen Scrapes. Pintail have regularly been seen in the Lagoon.

Millennium Wetlands

Lots of vegetation has been cleared in front of the Sir Peter Scott Hide allowing for a better view and photo opportunities on Deep Water Lake. Species to spot include Kingfisher, Little Egret and Buzzard. Increasing numbers of Lapwing are gathering ready for winter. When walking around the reserve, the distinctive call of Redwing can often be heard over head and a Water Rail was spotted on the Lily Pond.
