Recent Sightings 18th-22nd September

Top sightings of the week include Grey Phalarope, Great White Egret, Ruff, Cattle Egret, Spotted Redshank and Spoonbill

The marsh scrapes:

A Grey Phalarope was spotted in the saline lagoon this Thursday (21/09) and Friday (22/09) flitting between other groups of waders and the channels that course throughout the Salt marshes. As well as the elusive Phalarope a Curlew Sandpiper has made repeated visits to the Saline lagoon (18/09 and 22/09) with a Spotted Redshank and Spoonbill (18/09) seen too.

Large groups of Knots have been repeatedly seen in the saline lagoon also with 1000 individuals reported on Monday, and amongst the many Black-Tailed Godwit, Ruffs are continuing to be seen. The regular visitors of Redshank, Greenshank, Common sandpipers, Lapwings and Little egrets continue to be present on the marsh scrapes this week.

Freshwater Lagoon:

The freshwater lagoon has Seen a pair of Pintail ducks (22/09) this week amongst the usual residents of the area.

Millennium wetlands:

In the Deep water lake a Great White Egret (19/09) was observed these large birds tower over the smaller little egret and are closer in size to a Grey Heron. Also spotted in the Deep water lake was a Cattle Egret (18/09).
