Plan Your Visit: Sunday 8 February

The Llanelli Half Marathon is taking place on Sunday. WWT Llanelli Wetland Centre is open as usual. Access is maintained from the Loughor Bridge side, but the road from the Machynys side will be closed until around 11am. All roads should reopen as normal from 11am. Map and full info here.

Recent Sightings 1st - 4th December

Good wader numbers and lots of Gadwall and Teal

British Steel Hide

Spotted on the saline lagoons recently have been good wader numbers with 172 Black-tailed Godwit, 63 Dunlin, 77 Curlew, 5 Redshank and 2 Greenshank. Also seen include 3 Avocet, 161 Lapwing, 155 Shelduck, 94 Wigeon, 45 Mallard, Little Egret, Grey Heron, Spoonbill and Kingfisher. Both the Peregrine Falcon and Sparrowhawk have been seen upsetting the other birds an the lagoons.

Millennium Wetlands

High numbers of Gadwall - 117 and Teal - 129 have been seen across the reserve, as well as 44 Black-tailed Godwit, 15 Lapwing, 11 Redshank, 1 Spotted Redshank, 5 Curlew flying overhead, Wigeon, Tufted Duck and Little Grebe. Also spotted around the reserve include Both Green Woodpecker and Great Spotted Woodpecker, Goldcrest, Cetti's Warbler, Long-tailed Tit, Chaffinch and Goldfinch.
