We’re sorry for this short-term inconvenience, but this date has been chosen to allow our team to rearrange the shop and entrance ahead of the upcoming Welcome Project construction, and get everything ready in time for a fantastic May half-term experience. Recent sightings 20th-23rd October

British Steel hide

Highlights from the British Steel hide are Water Pipit, Hobby, 150 Lapwing as well as the usual Godwit flock.

 

Millennium wetlands

Spotted on deep water lake recently include Heron, Cormorant, Little Egret, Lapwing and Snipe. Also seen from both the Peter Scott and Heron's Wing hides are Little Grebe, Wigeon, Pochard, Tufted Duck, Gadwall and Shoveler. Plenty of water rail can be heard across the wetlands, and one was spotted from the Welsh Water hide on Monday so keep your eyes peeled for them! Birds of prey seen recently include Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk and Buzzard. Other birds spread across the wetlands can be seen in the bushes and trees such as Wren, Dunnock, Cetti's Warbler, Long-tailed Tit and Robin.
