WWT Llanelli will be closed for one day on Wednesday 20 May.

We’re sorry for this short-term inconvenience, but this date has been chosen to allow our team to rearrange the shop and entrance ahead of the upcoming Welcome Project construction, and get everything ready in time for a fantastic May half-term experience. We will reopen on Thursday 21 May as usual. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Highlights - Grey Wagtail, Stonechat, Teal and Small Red-eyed Damselfly

Recent Sightings 3rd-9th July

A male stonechat was spotted this morning on the Millennium wetlands, flitting around the main island of Deep water lake.

Across the reserve many ducks are now in eclipse plumage. This dull temporary plumage helps them stay hidden from predators while they are moulting their flight feathers.

Teal are now regularly visible on Dafen scrapes and a juvenile grey wagtail was spotted feeding on the edge of the lagoon towards the end of the week.

Small red-eyed damselfly can now be seen in some of the more sheltered parts of Deep water lake, often on the floating vegetation.

A variety of moth species are now present on the reserve including the light emerald, july highflyer, double square-spot, riband wave, small mapie, lacky, mottled beauty and small fan-footed wave.
