WWT Llanelli will be closed for one day on Wednesday 20 May.

We’re sorry for this short-term inconvenience, but this date has been chosen to allow our team to rearrange the shop and entrance ahead of the upcoming Welcome Project construction, and get everything ready in time for a fantastic May half-term experience. We will reopen on Thursday 21 May as usual. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Both marsh harrier and merlin have been seen over the salt marsh this week. Waders on the saline lagoon include spotted redshank, redshank, greenshank, dunlin and lapwing. Its been lovely to see large numbers of wigeon from the British Steel hide and a kingfisher has been showing nicely too. Teal numbers have been good on site recently.

Several woodcock have been spotted in the late afternoon signalling the arrival of winter and their close relatives snipe have also been seen a lot too. A heron has taken to sitting on a tall post in Deep Water lake making for a great photo opportunity. Siskin and lesser redpoll have visited our bird feeders. Stonechat seem to be curious of humans and are regularly spotted by staff and volunteers out on the reserve. A female kestrel has been seen almost daily and once with a male partner too!
