WWT Llanelli will be closed for one day on Wednesday 20 May.

We’re sorry for this short-term inconvenience, but this date has been chosen to allow our team to rearrange the shop and entrance ahead of the upcoming Welcome Project construction, and get everything ready in time for a fantastic May half-term experience. We will reopen on Thursday 21 May as usual. Thank you for your support and understanding.

Close alert

Recent sightings 7th - 9th November

Little grebe Cr Edward O'Connor

British Steel Hide

Smaller numbers of our waders have been seen towards the end of the week, with 189 Black-tailed godwits, 40 Lapwing, Redshank, Knot as well as 2 Curlew. Little grebe and Great crested grebe have been seen fishing on the estuary. The Spoonbill continues to make regular appearances from the Steel hide, before returning to roost in the Millennium wetlands. Peregrine, Buzzard and Sparrowhawk continue to show off their aerial hunting skills on the salt marsh hoping to catch an unwary wader.

Millennium Wetlands

It has been relatively quiet on the wetlands, with smaller numbers of Tufted ducks, Teal and Pochard being present. Gadwal continues to be the main species to be seen from the hides with 60 being spotted earlier in the week. The kingfisher was spotted perched on the posts just metres away from the Peter Scott hide giving our reserve staff an excellent close up view so keep on the look out.

Our smaller birds are making use of the feeders, with Great tits, Coal tits, Bullfinches and Jays being the main visitors. Chiffchaff and Cetti's warblers can still be heard around the reserve.
