Wild Walk

Meet waterfowl from wetlands around the world. Our living collection has over 80 species, including flamboyant flamingos, friendly geese and a wide range of ducks, from whistling ducks to diving ducks. We also have two adorable Asian short-clawed otters, Penny and Kenai! Find out more about our wetland superstars.

Family birdwatching from a hide at Martin Mere Wetland Centre

With 600 acres of wetland scenery, Martin Mere is a great place to connect with nature. Our reserve has around 2,000 different species of birds, mammals, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles and mini-beasts. Visit our hides or take a stroll through our reedbed walk which is home to species including marsh harriers, mute swans and crested grebes. Find out more about the seasonal wildlife.

Get closer to wildlife

Wild Walk

With 12 hides looking over different habitats across our nature reserve, you can see plenty of fascinating wildlife during your visit. Sit inside our warm Discovery Hide with fantastic views of the mere, or our breathtaking Harrier Hide for views of our reedbeds.

Talks and tours

Wild Walk

With insightful feeds and relaxing guided walks, there are many opportunities to learn more about the different species at Martin Mere from our expert wardens and friendly volunteers.
