Road closure in place

The road is closed on Wiggins lane (up past Windmill Farm) and visitors travelling from Southport and Preston to Martin Mere will be diverted to the A59.
Martin Mere is accessible from the A59 Burscough. There are road closed signs in place but these are pre-warning signs for the closure on Wiggins Lane.

Wild Walk

“Squelch, squelch, splish splash, swish swash. We are going on a Wild Walk adventure”. Explore a hidden gem of wetland habitat at WWT Martin Mere's Wild Walk.

NEW Wild Walk Adventure

There’s a brand new adventure to be had with our new play area! Test your balance on the balance weaver and balance beam, take on the swinging steps, and brave the rickety bridge.

Take a walk on the wild side.

Bring your wellies and have fun exploring in nature:

  • meander through a maze of wetland tracks
  • squelch through the muddy meadow to the middle maze lodge
  • bounce across the wobbly web bridge to the wet woods
  • balance along a reedy ramble, discovering the wildlife and giant sculptures.
  • What’s 18.63 cubic metres in size, brimming with bugs, and held a Guinness World Record? It’s one of the World’s Largest Bug Hotels and it’s right here on Martin Mere's Wild Walk!

The attraction is included as part of your admission price.

The Wild Walk project at WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre is funded by the Lancashire Environmental Fund, a generous legacy from the late Mrs Magdalene Thistleton, Cargill PLC and The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund.
