Get a behind the scenes experience at WWT Martin Mere

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA brand new event is starting at WWT Martin Mere on Wednesday 17 April: Behind the scenes Wednesdays.

Every Wednesday, staff at Martin Mere, are giving visitors the opportunity to take part in a tour or talk that will allow them to see behind the scenes at the centre. One week you could be touring the beaver enclosure, the next you could be walking out on the reserve to see the cattle and learning all about reserve management, or viewing our tree sparrow ringing programme.

The first activity on Wednesday 18 April is a talk and tour with Centre Manager, Andy Wooldridge. He is going to talk about the last 35 years at Martin Mere, how the centre was built in the early 70s and plenty of amusing stories along the way.

Marketing Manager, Victoria Fellowes, said: “It is important to us to keep offering our visitors something new and these events will allow our visitors to get to know the centre and our staff better whilst getting to see areas of the grounds and reserve they would never have seen before. They will continue to run during term time for the rest of the year and we are confident that they will be become very popular.”

The talks and tours are all included in the admission price and there is a special offer in the cafe for everyone taking part.

WWT Martin Mere is open every day from 9.30am to 5pm and parking is free of charge. Situated off the A59, it is signposted from the M61, M58 and M6.  The Centre is also accessible via the Southport to Manchester and the Liverpool to Preston line by train from Burscough Rail Stations.  Visit the web site http://www.wwt.org.uk/martinmere to find out what’s on all year round at Martin Mere and the other eight centres.
