Join Jon Carter, from the BTO British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), for a guided walk with a difference… how to use technology to enhance your nature experiences, while contributing to science!

We will cover the basics of the Merlin app for identifying birds you see and hear, and each new sighting will be added to the BirdTrack app which not only allows you to keep detailed records of the species seen but also adds invaluable information to BTO’s database.

The walk will also be joined by a WWT reserve warden to guide you on the wildlife you may hear and see on the reserve.

Get close up view of thousands of migratory birds, such as the pink-footed geese at The Discovery Hide. The 3pm feed will be commentated.

Join Sony Imaging Ambassador, Terry Donnelly, for an exclusive, hands-on wildlife photography workshop set within the surroundings of the Martin Mere nature reserve.

You’ll be able to try advanced features such as AI-driven autofocus for birds and insects, pre-capture functionality, and high-speed burst shooting, alongside Sony’s powerful telephoto lenses - ideal for capturing distant or fast-moving subjects. Terry will be on hand throughout to demonstrate how he uses this technology in the field to achieve his award-winning results.
