Step into SUPER Natural at WWT Washington this October Half Term

Families can swap the spooky for a SUPER Natural Halloween adventure at WWT Washington this October half term.

Running from 24th October - 1st November this unmissable week-long event invites families to discover the wonders, wildlife and folklore of wetlands through a programme of hands-on activities and seasonal fun.

Designed with younger children in mind, SUPER Natural offers a scare-free way to celebrate Halloween, encouraging families to get outdoors, explore nature and uncover the nature-bursting and mood-boosting superpowers of wetlands.

On arrival, visitors can pick up a SUPER Natural logbook and set off on a self-guided adventure around the reserve, discovering autumn wildlife and nature-inspired activities along the way.

Visitors can enjoy a spellbinding selection of seasonal entertainment:

  • Reserve walk: Birds of Myth and Superstition - explore the stories and symbolism behind some of our most intriguing birds.
  • Plants, potions and remedies - learn how wetland plants have been used in traditional remedies and folklore
  • Owl pellet workshop - investigate the clues hidden inside an owl pellet and uncover what it has been eating.
  • Will o' Wisp Jam Jar Lanterns - craft a glowing lantern inspired by the mysterious lights of folklore.
  • Fairy ring crafts - create a fairy ring using materials gathered from around the reserve.
  • Willow wands and star making - weave your own willow wand or star for magical summer adventures.

Participation in SUPER Natural at WWT Washington is included with the price of admission and is free to WWT members.
