Mystery male osprey still at the nest

It has been a hectic weekend at the osprey nest. Our female has totally chaged the appearance of the nest with lots more sticks and clumps of grass. A large stick came in early this morning and is now across the front of the nest. This gave me hope that our new male bird may perch on it and I could read his leg ring. There have been quite a few attempted matings but so far none successful that I have seen. The male has a faded yellow ring on his left leg which we still haven't confirmed yet but we are very close. A lot of hours squinting at hazy images frame by frame will eventually lead to an identification in the next day or so I'm sure. No sign yet of regular male AW (green ring with white letters) but there has been at least one other osprey around the nest. I think if it was AW he would heve been straight onto the nest and ousted his rival. yesterday our new male brought in a fish to the nest for the female and she almost had to prize it from his grasp. At least he seems more than able to bring in plenty of fish.

More to come in the next few days I'm sure and if you see anything happening at the nest do please  make a post on the website with a time so that I can check it on the recorded footage which is running all the time.
