WWT partners with Macmillan Children’s Books to celebrate wetlands this spring
We're delighted to be teaming up with Macmillan Children’s Books, to explore the wonderful world of wetlands with Gozzle the gosling.
The freshly hatched character from Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie’s new picture book, Gozzle, is being brought to life as an immersive experience for the whole family.
Launching across six WWT wetland centres from Friday 20 March to Sunday 31 May, the Gozzle partnership celebrates the start of spring as the wetlands come alive with new life.
Families can enjoy a season of firsts, including outdoor adventure trails, interactive Vet Check stations, storytelling sessions, and much more.
Julia Donaldson, award-winning children’s author explained:
Sara and I are so happy that our little gosling is going to be brought to life beyond the page. I've been to the amazing WWT wetlands before so I can imagine how much families will enjoy exploring them and spotting all the wildlife while they follow the Gozzle story trail.
Sara Ogilvie, illustrator added:
Illustrating Gozzle was all about capturing those small but important first discoveries, so it’s lovely to see her story unfold in wetlands as spring begins.
The partnership brings together Macmillan Children’s Books’ much-loved storytelling and WWT’s mood-boosting wetlands, creating a memorable adventure that helps children, and their grown-ups connect with nature.

Through outdoor adventures, interactive experiences, and storytelling, Gozzle offers families a playful way to explore wetlands during the spring season. The experience invites families to discover what it takes for Gozzle to become a grown-up goose, from hatching to migration, with a season of firsts for both Gozzle and visiting families.
Visitors will also be able to buy their copy of Gozzle, the new picture book by Julia Donaldson and Sara Ogilvie, published by Macmillan Children’s Books, from the WWT gift shop.
WWT and Macmillan Children’s Books’ exciting partnership will launch at WWT Slimbridge, Washington, Martin Mere, Arundel, London, and Llanelli on Friday 20 March and run until Sunday 31 May 2026.
