Caribbeans get into the swing of things
Phil's hard work with the Caribbean flamingo breeding this year has certainly paid dividends all of a sudden. In spite of the recurrence of the rain (a constant theme amongst these diary posts!) the flamingos have settled down to nest, lay eggs and begin the process of making their own families. Four new eggs have been laid today, so this brings the total of nesting pairs into double figures. Fingers crossed that all eggs are fertile and that many bundles of fluff will be wandering around the enclosure come the end of June. This is still early days in the cycle for the Caribbeans so expect to see more eggs over the coming days as more pairs chose their nest site and renovate the mud mound until they deem it reasonable to house their egg.
