Planning and Infrastructure Bill update: this isn’t the end

Thank you to the thousands of you who spoke up for wetlands recently by writing to your MP about the threat they face from the Planning and Infrastructure Bill.

Planning and Infrastructure Bill update: this isn’t the end

Because of your efforts, the government has now tabled amendments to the Bill that seek to strengthen safeguards for nature. But though these amendments are welcome, the Bill is still flawed.

We don’t want to go back to the status quo either: we want to go further. With 75% of our wetlands lost in the last 300 years, we should be restoring these superpowered habitats across the country – not just preventing their destruction.

Wetlands offer hope – and as the Planning and Infrastructure Bill continues through Parliament, we’ll be working in coalition to push for meaningful protections for wetlands, and a planning system that brings us more and better of these wondrous habitats, in our communities and beyond.

Communities flourish with wetlands on their doorstep, living healthy lives connected to nature. We want to see wetlands in the heart of every community – and we’ll be campaigning to make sure that happens.

You can stay up to date on our social channels, and thanks again for speaking up for wetlands.
