Sedge Warbler
Glorious day after the early frost and mist disappeared. The first Sedge Warbler was in song on the Reed Bed Walk. Not the earliest we've had here in recent years or the latest. Plenty of Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler and Blackcap in song around the reserve.

Breeding bird survey

Maintenance Works on the Saline Lagoons
Essential maintenance work will be carried out on the saline lagoons in front of the British Steel Hide and Michael Powell Hide on Thursday 14th and Friday 15th April. Over time the seaward banks of the Saline Lagoons have become eroded during spring tide

Update, Wed April 13th
Ring-necked Duck back today, currently on the Whooper Pond. 57 Black-tailed Godwits, mostly on the Flood Ground and Short=eared Owl quartering the main ditch. In the order of 15,000 Barnacles today, virtually all on the merses Today's high tide is at 17:

Arrivals
Overnight rain and some murky conditions boded well for some new arrivals and we were not disappointed! The first House Martins appeared with numbers of Sand Martin (100+) and a few Swallow. On the wader front both Green and Common Sandpiper were new in.
