London Wetland Centre opens doors for free to children, on school strike day!
As schools prepare for strike action on Thursday, WWT London Wetland Centre in Barnes will be supporting families by offering free admission to the centre for children when accompanied by a full paying adult. Kids go free* on 2, 15 & 16 March 2023, provides a fantastic opportunity for children to engage with nature and learn more about wetlands.
With many schools fully or partially closing, our “Kids go free” offer provides the perfect opportunity to enjoy nature and experience some amazing wildlife in our wetland oasis. Visitors will be able meet remarkable and rare wildlife from all corners of the globe (including two gorgeous otters) and learn about WWT’s worldwide conservation work. There are six bird-spotting hides to explore, an observatory, and daily wildlife talks, not forgetting the outdoor adventure playground and hands-on fun in the visitor centre.

We have a brilliant range of activities for children to engage with nature and it’s the best time of year to bird watch so visitors should be in for a treat as the weather is looking promising. We hope the children go back to school with lots of great stories to tell their teachers.”
Over a third of the world’s wetlands have disappeared since 1970. As well as providing tranquil surroundings and supporting biodiversity, they play an incredibly important role in the fight against climate change as they absorb so much carbon. By visiting the centre, buying food from the café or gifts from the shop at the centre, visitors are directly contributing to protecting, restoring and creating healthy wetlands all over the world.
