British Steel hide
Recently spotted on the saline lagoons have been good numbers of Lapwing – 117 and Wigeon – 72, as well as Redshank, Greenshank, Curlew and Kingfisher. Visible out on the estuary have been large numbers of Shelduck, Curlew and Oystercatchers. Both Buzzard and Sparrowhawk have been seen from the hide.
On Monday a Green Sandpiper was spotted at the back of the Dafen scrapes, and 2 Reed Buntings in the brambles alongside the hide.
Millennium Wetlands
Seen on deep water lake recently include Gadwall, Wigeon, Teal, Tufted Duck, Shoveler, Lapwing and Pintail. There were 19 Snipe recorded on Monday along the edges of the main island in deep water lake, so keep your eyes peeled. Also seen on across the reserve include Stonechat, Mistle Thrush, Song Thrush and Redwing.
The otter continues to be regularly seen on deep water lake in front of the Peter Scott and Heron’s Wing hides.
