The October half term was a great week for the centre and many of you came along and carved your pumpkins ready for Halloween! The winner of guess the weight of the giant pumpkin was only two pounds out, the pumpkin actually weighed 348lb.

This week I had a meeting with Kevin Peberdy, our Director of Centre Developments and Julia Meldrum, our Grounds Manager to discuss developments in the grounds.

On Wednesday we held a volunteer’s Jamboree. Chris Rostron, Head of Wetland Link International from our Slimbridge HQ came and gave a talk. We had a good attendance of around 50 volunteers and a few of our staff, who were long term volunteers told us about their volunteering stories.

The canoe safari season has come to an end and I would like to thank this opportunity to thank our canoe safari operators for all their hard work over the summer. Today is their last day and I would like to wish them the best with all future endeavours, although I know they are all going to go back to volunteering at the centre.

We will be closing the play area later this month for the refurbishment to take place. There will be extra activities in place during this time, so there will still be plenty going on for the children to do.
