Otter-feeding, flamingo-cuddling and cake-eating with Mike Dilger!

Mike Dilger has visited WWT Washington on the seventh leg of his Big 9 Challenge - and what a visit it was!

Mike feeds Musa

Marketing manager Leanne McCormella said: “We had a fantastic day with Mike, who proved a natural warden as he hand-fed our Asian short clawed otter Musa and met our baby Chilean flamingos.

“His personal highlight was seeing five of his favourite garden birds – the colourful bullfinch – on the feeders at Hawthorn Wood feeding station. Our site record is 50 at once, which he was amazed at!

“His brilliant evening talk about the trials and tribulations of being a TV wildlife presenter was a sell out and all the money raised goes directly into the funds for WWT’s spoon-billed sandpiper project, which we’re incredibly grateful for."

Check out Mike's blog entry about his time in the North East (which also saw him eating a cake with his own FACE on it!) and read more about the Big 9 Challenge here http://www.wwt.org.uk/news/all-news/2013/01/misc/big-9-challenge/wonderful-washington/
