Tundra Bean Goose
Another excellent autumn day with light winds and mostly sunny all day. The large numbers of Pink-footed Geese dominate the proceeding with 20,000+ birds in the area. Sharp eyed observers picked out a Tundra Bean Goose in among the Pink-foot flock and a Barnacle Goose was also present.
At least 3 Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, 6+ Common Buzzard, 2 Sparrowhawk and 2 Kestrel seen today.
Waders included Green Sandpiper, 600+ Lapwing, 20+ Ruff, 10+ Common Snipe and Black-tailed Godwit.
Two Swallow flew south through the reserve this morning. Sightings of these birds start to become noteworthy as the month progresses. A few Goldcrest present along the Nature Trail in mixed flocks of Long-tailed, Coal, Blue and Great Tits.
