WWT celebrates over £5.9 million of support raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery

Players of People’s Postcode Lottery have now raised over £5.9 million in support of WWT’s work since 2014. In 2023, we received an incredible £1.1 million thanks to funds raised by players, which was awarded by Postcode Planet Trust, one of 20 Postcode Trusts managed by People’s Postcode Lottery.

Funds raised by players are vital to supporting our mission to restore wetlands and unlock their power, helping us react quickly to conservation opportunities and inspire a movement for change.

Player funding supports conservation at WWT’s wetland reserves and project sites across the UK and around the world. Supporting the day-to-day work of our amazing staff, players support a huge range of activities from boosting threatened wetland species and restoring wetland habitat to connecting adults and children with nature and improving their wellbeing.

With player funding, we are able to support over 900 volunteers who are absolutely essential to helping us achieve our vision; a world where healthy wetland nature thrives and enriches lives. Last year we heard from some of our incredible volunteers about their volunteering journey at WWT and the positive impact this experience has had.

Funding from players helps WWT advocate for the benefits of wetlands to key decision makers, influencing policy and action through international networks and key events. With player funding we are inspiring action for wetlands and creating a movement for change, with more people valuing and benefitting from wetlands where they live and work. Players support us to make new connections, form partnerships and unlock further funding, vital to the delivery of so many of our conservation projects, in the UK and beyond.

Players are also helping us make WWT more sustainable, supporting work to reduce our environmental impacts, helping us reach Net Zero for our operations (sites and business travel) by 2030.
