The male Brambling is back and showing from Janet Kear Hide today, also Reed Buntings and Long-tailed Tits from here.

Good selection of wildfowl as always on site, including 2-300 Whooper Swan, small numbers of Pink-footed Goose, Mallard, Teal, Pintail, Shelduck, Wigeon, Shoveler, Gadwall, Tufted Duck and Pochard.

At least 55 Ruff, 20+ Black-tailed Godwit, 2500 Lapwing and 20+ Snipe can be found on site currently.

Up to 40+ Cormorant are regular on the Mere with several of the continental form Sinensis.

The usual pair of Great-black backed Gull are still around the Mere along with the odd pair of Lesser black-backed Gull and good numbers of Black-headed Gull, occasional Common Gull can be found among them.

Skylarks can be heard singing at the moment from the UU Hide.

Any day now the first Avocets should return, keep an eye on the far side of the Mere for these birds in the morning.
