Enjoy a wild winter at WWT Arundel

Posted on 18 Nov 2019

Winter is a wild time to visit Arundel Wetland Centre. Get out for a bracing walk to see little egrets, grey herons, cormorants fish the lagoons while flashy kingfishers make their rounds along the boat safari route and at the hides. Teal, pochard, and tufted ducks in stunning plumage winter on the water while secretive snipe and water rails skulk the reedbeds. Majestic marsh harriers and hundreds of pied wagtails arrive in the afternoon for the evening roost. Stunning!

Sail to Santa is back at Arundel Wetland Centre for four special weekend days this December! Families will board an elf-powered boat for a gentle ride through the reedbeds to visit Father Christmas. Try the Naughty or Nice-0-Metre before you board, then experience the magic of a festive visit with Father Christmas inside his ‘frosty’ grotto and receive a WWT goody bag.

Adults can get creative at the Christmas Wreath Workshop make a willow wreath from scratch, then weave it with seasonal wetland plants. Book online for £15 per person for workshops on Fri 13 Dec or Sat 14 Dec.

Children's pine cone craft drop-in sessions run every afternoon of Christmas school holidays and the Wetland Discovery Boat Safari is running every day from 11am-3.30pm. There’s always something to see Arundel Wetland Centre, and we’re open from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm every day, except for Christmas Day and we close at 2pm on Christmas Eve.
