Holiday Hours & Activities
The Christmas holidays are a wonderful time for families to connect, and a day out in nature remains one of the most cherished traditions.
A recent survey of 2,000 adults conducted by WWT revealed that nearly 60% of people still choose Boxing Day as their favourite day to get outside for fresh air. That makes a winter walk at WWT Arundel Wetland Centre the perfect post-Christmas reset.

With safe, accessible paths and wide-open waterscapes, Arundel Wetland Centre is an ideal place to stretch your legs this winter. Visitors can explore a tranquil reserve alive with wildlife, take boat tours through the reedbeds, and join daily keeper talks to meet birds from wetlands around the world. Highlights include the impressive Dalmatian pelicans and diving sea ducks. Families can also enjoy Festive Crafts drop-ins, running daily throughout the school Christmas holidays.

Elizabeth Pearce, Engagement and Learning Manager at WWT Arundel Wetland Centre, explained: “It’s great to see that for many of us, going for a walk and enjoying nature is still a big part of our Christmas tradition. At WWT we know that being in nature is good for you. Just 10 minutes in wetlands can boost your mood, so getting outside is a great way to stay healthy and positive.”
WWT Arundel Wetland Centre is open every day of the holidays except Christmas Day, closing at 2 pm on Christmas Eve.
Festive Crafts run from December 20 through January 4 between 11 am and 2.30 pm, while the Wetland Discovery Boat Safari tour operates daily during the same period from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm at a cost of £3 per person. Visitors booking online in advance can also enjoy a 10% reduction on admission prices.
