WWT Arundel wins Silver Award for Accessible & Inclusive Tourism
On Tuesday 9 December, the team at WWT Arundel Wetland Centre proudly brought home a Silver Award for Accessible & Inclusive Tourism at the prestigious Beautiful South Tourism Awards, held at The Grand in Brighton.
This recognition highlights the centre’s commitment to creating a welcoming and memorable experience for all visitors, especially those with accessibility needs. Over the past year, the team has worked hard to improve facilities and services:
- Staff training: Front of house teams completed the Welcoming All Customers course.
- Accessible Boat Safari: Visitors can now download site guides online to plan their adventure.
- Changing Places toilet: Opened in 2023, complementing the centre’s accessible boat safari and flexible education programmes.
- Inclusive design: Level walkways, step free wildlife hides, wheelchair hire, accessible parking, and toilets ensure everyone can enjoy the wetlands.
Marketing Manager Pat Warren, who collected the award, shared:
“This is the third award we have won in the category and a step up from our Bronze award last year. I would like to wish a huge congratulations to all our fellow Beautiful South Award Finalists and thank our dedicated staff and volunteers for their hard work.”
The Beautiful South Tourism Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the South East, and this accolade places Arundel Wetland Centre firmly among the region’s most inclusive destinations.
WWT Arundel Wetland Centre is open every day of the year (except Christmas Day), with special hours on Christmas Eve (closing at 2 pm). Regular opening times are 10 am – 4.30 pm, seven days a week.
