See whooper swans in a different light at our after-hours event

Each year, WWT Martin Mere welcomes hundreds of whooper swans as they join us over the winter period. Visitors flock to see the species from late October to March, but many haven’t experienced the swans in a different light - floodlight.

Most Tuesdays in January, Martin Mere returns with its annual floodlit swan evenings. Starting after the sun has set, visitors can join a warden in the Discovery Hide and watch hundreds of whoopers as they shine bright in the water.

The event will delve more into fascinating facts about the whooper swans and the migratory journey that they make to our reserve from Iceland every year.

Rita, a volunteer at WWT Martin Mere, said: “My nan and grandad lived on the banks of a river and I've been coming to the mere since I was in a pram. I have never seen the swans the way I saw them at the floodlit swans event. I highly recommend this - to see them lit up against the darkness is an incredible experience!”

This event must be booked in advance. Adult tickets cost £13.10, concession costs £11.80, and child costs £8.50. Book via our website.
