Today's sighting-Snow Geese

Lesser Snow Geese- a flock of thirteen arrived from high and the north at 0740 and began circling the reserve. They dropped down onto the Top New Piece and fed for a while hence the distant image taken from the Holden Tower. Soon after the flock flew off north again and were lost to sight. They consist of one blue phase bird and twelve white phase, two of these being juveniles. The same flock were likely to have been seen in Lancashire yesterday at Pilling which like Slimbridge is a great area for geese.
