7 May sightings- Black-headed Gull chicks and more

Sightings for today include.

Middle Point from Shepherds Hut Hide

Short-eared Owl and the male White-spotted Bluethroat singing from foreshore reeds, Reed and Sedge Warblers + Reed Bunting

Estuary Tower

Seven Dark-bellied Brent Geese on the foreshore with the large gull/ Canada Goose flock, 4 Curlew on the Dumbles and Greenshank in the scrape.

Tack Piece

Male Bar-tailed Godwit, 28 Ringed Plover, 62 Dunlin, Common Sandpiper + a few pairs of Tufted Duck, 2 drake Wigeon, Shoveler, Shelduck and Gadwall + Little Egret.

A pair of Common Tern touring the reserve this morning, male presented a fish to the female on the Tack Piece, just seen them again calling over the grounds.

South Lake

Black-headed Gulls have hatched a few chicks on the north island 'pier', the Cranes with their chick, 4 Mediterranean Gulls (two 3cy attending potential nest sites, 2cy and adult n/b plumage), single Black-tailed Godwit with the Avocets, drake Teal on the duck marsh.

Kingfisher Hide

Singing Cuckoo, a few pairs of Tufted Duck, numerous Reed and a couple of singing Sedge Warblers, Reed Bunting and Chiffchaff.
