A helping hand from the rain

At last! A wet day to top up the scrapes and pools, even if it's just a little.

Rushy Hide

Common and Wood Sandpiper still present, the latter often moves to the Tack Piece and was even on the South Lake today.

Tack Piece

15 and 5 Pied Wagtail following the cattle, Common Sandpiper still on the scrape and small party of 8 Teal and an Oystercatcher. A juvenile Whimbrel dropped in but moved to the cut hay area on the Dumbles to feed with 12 Curlew.

Holden Tower

A pair of Peregrine, Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin and 120 Curlew as the tide came in.

South Lake

14 Ruff, 29 Redshank, 107 Black-tailed Godwit, 74 Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Common Sandpiper and Green Sandpiper, the Wood Sandpiper dropped in for a time. Plenty of duck especially on deep lake- Mallard, Teal, Gadwall, Shoveler and a family of Shelduck. Crane pair, Bart and Ruby and two young.

125 Lapwing, 1 Ruff, 1 Greenshank, 3 Snipe, breeding plumaged Curlew Sandpiper, 15 Avocet, 8 Oystercatcher, 84 Dunlin (c5 juveniles), Green Sandpiper, 80 Teal, 20 Shoveler.
