Arctic Terns
There has been a really good passage of Terns this week passing up the Severn Estuary. However we are very lucky today that a few groups have come inland and spent some time feeding in front of our hides, Giving some fantastic views. Having spent the winter near Antarctica these birds are now on their way to spend the summer in the Arctic! The Arctic Tern is famous for this migration which is 19,000 km journey each way. By doing this mamouth migration it does means that they get to see two summers per year and more daylight than any other creature on the planet
