Buff-breasted Sandpiper...
Juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpiper taken this morning by JSLees WWT
The Dumbles/Holden Tower
A juvenile BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER (From Canada) was found by our Reserve Warden whilst he lead an Advanced Birding session! As you can imagine the group were very happy and it was a perfect subject to pick out in a big flock of waders.
Unfortunately it was a very high and quick tide today so this meant it covered the normal area where the waders roost. So nearly all of the small waders flew up river (north) to find another roost site. Further checks for this bird in the likely areas drew a blank. However there is a good chance it will be seen again at high tide tomorrow.
FREE WADER WALK FOR WWT MEMBERS TOMORROW- Please meet our Reserve Warden at the Holden Tower at 8.15. We will walk out to the river and search of this bird and others. Note the tide is still very high tomorrow.
