Early signs of spring
It is amazing to see so many Avocets on site. Only a few years ago we had our first breeding pair, now at least 30 adults on site this spring. Lots of nesting behaviour is currently going on. These birds were seen lekking on the Holden Tower islands this morning. They were strutting around, jumping, laying down and fighting. Some possible the females were making a purring sound, while the males were making an almost chicken like clucking sounds.
